Q: What is Calorie Conscious?

A: Calorie Conscious is a promise of health. We bake healthy wheat and gluten free breads and prepare healthy ready-made meals made up according to calories. A feeling of well-being and good health is automatic when eating our food.

Q: What qualifies you to make quality healthy meals?

A: We have an executive chef on our premises who specializes in health food and has trained all our other chefs in the preparation of health meals.

Q: What is your Kitchen like?

A: It’s large, spotlessly clean and due to the demand for our specialized services, always extremely busy :)

Q. Will I lose weight if I order your meals?

A: Yes….We have a 100% success rate on our weight loss!

Q. What do you recommend for food allergies and can your kitchen ensure that there will be no cross contamination?

A: It depends on what your food allergy is. If you are allergic to the likes of eggs, dairy, fish, chicken, nuts, seeds, gluten, wheat and shellfish, we can most definitely help you. If you are allergic to garlic or onions which are used in a lot of meals we prepare we will unfortunately not be able to cater specifically for you.

Q: Why is it so important that I should eat healthily?

A: I’m sure you’ve heard the saying “You are what you eat”? Well you can trust that it is so. If you consistently eat greasy, oily, acidic, hard to digest, unhealthy food, it stands to reason that you will progressively start to feel bad. It affects your mood, emotions, health and general well-being. When fuelling your body with healthy, nutritious food that is good for you, inevitably you will start feeling the vitality and energy that it creates from inside.

Q: What makes Calorie Conscious different from any other ready- made meals delivered to my door?

A: Not only are our meals fresh and prepared daily but WE count the calories in each and every meal so that when you purchase , for example, one of our programs designed for weight loss and your daily calorie intake should be 1200 calories, then you get EXACTLY  1200 calories a day!

Q: Can I always be assured of quality?

A: The quality is fantastic!! It is our mission and promise to you to always deliver the highest quality foods available to us.

Q: How do I order meals from Calorie Conscious?

A: All you need to do is go onto our website and choose the program that you want to be on, add it to the cart, do the check out, pay, and your food will be delivered 48 hours later.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?

A: If you want to cancel your foods, you need to give us a 48 hour lead time. We don’t do cash refunds, but we will refund you in meals.

Q: What if my food is off when I receive it?

A: It almost never happens. But if it does, then please take a photo of the meal or meals and e-mail it to us and we will refund you in meals.

Q: How do you handle in and out of season fruit and vegetables?

A: When a vegetable or fruit is in season you will most definitely see it on our menu.

Q: Can I freeze my meals?

A: Obviously our meals are designed to be consumed fresh daily. To avoid possible wastage though, there are some meals that can be frozen, especially the cooked meals.

Q: Is there enough food for big men?

A: Yes. We have a variety of packages for men. The average man will consume between 1600 to 2000 calories, the medium sized man between 2100 to 2500 calories and the big men 2600 + calories.

Read these frequently asked questions and the answers you need regarding our consultants.

Q: What is a Calorie Conscious Consultant?

A: A Calorie Conscious Consultant is a health professional who has studied nutrition and physical training and is the most qualified person with whom a client can consult to reach their optimum health and fitness.

Q: What does a consultation include?

A:  A consultation includes a visit from the Calorie Conscious Consultant to your premises (home or work) at your convenience. During the consultation you will be asked a multitude of questions to determine:  Your current ‘head space’, what your goals are, your current eating plan and current health condition, allergies etc. The consultant will then do a ‘Bodystat’ on you, which includes measurements, height, weight, age, sex and how much exercise you are managing to get in per week. With the Bodystat we can determine your goal weight, fat percentage, BMI, and most importantly for us – your daily calorie intake, which we then use to prepare your daily meals.

Q: What do the follow up calls consist of?

A: The follow up calls are essentially for support. When starting with an eating plan we normally suggest that you start with a ‘Detox’. The Detox in itself is not difficult; however some people do need the encouragement and supervision that one will receive from a consultant. With the follow up calls, the consultant will check on you, find out how you are doing and motivate and assist you with any problems or issues that you might be experiencing.

Q: Weigh in… Can I do this at home and mail you the result?

A: The weigh-in is not enough. If you do not want to go the route of doing a consultation with a professional and you are only interested in doing the meal plan, then you can send us your weight, height and age… as well as your current physical training regime. With this information we can work out a fairly accurate estimate of your daily calorie intake.

Q Do you have a special scale?

A: No, but we do have a good scale that we calibrate once every few months

Q: What is the difference between your weigh-ins and ‘Weigh Less’ weigh-ins?

A: We’re not sure, but you can obviously continue with Weigh Less weigh-ins as well if desired.

Q: Is a diet recommendation included with the consultation?

A: Yes, it is. However, we do not design eating plans that you can take home and cook for yourself. We are in the business of supplying ready-made health meals

Q: Are you going to force me to buy your food?

A: Absolutely not. We do suggest however that you at least try our food and decide for yourself if you would like to continue with our meal plans.

Q: What qualifies you?

A: We have done the necessary nutrition courses to give you the best possible advice and information to assist you on your journey forward.

Q: Can I use my own Dietician?

A: By all means. We have many Dieticians who design eating plans for their clients, and then send their clients to Calorie Conscious to prepare the meals for them.
